Hi all
I'm new to the forum, live in Wales and drive a 2003 Td4 freelander and would like a bit of advice if possible,.It started off with a burning smell then with my heaters not blowing while on 1,2,3 but ok on 4,I changed the resistor pack which allowed it to work for about half hour then burned out again,so i have changed the motor and resister pack this time,The fan is working on all four but there is no air blowing out of the vents,i pulled off the pipe under the dash on passengers side and it seems to be blowing ok to that square box,can someone advise me what that box is and how and what i need to sort out the problem.I have taken out the resistor pack until i sort the problen in fear of blowing this one also.

Thanks
Darren

Hi and welcome to the forum, I'm in wales also, the square box you talk of is the evaporator for the air con, if its blowing out of that then the problem is in the heater box itself. flaps stuck shut, cable come off or something like that

Yeah - at one time the nationalists had a policy of burning english holiday homes - or so i was lead to believe - maybe since devolution that is now deemed unneccesary!

Hi thanks for replying,I am getting air flow to the square box as i disconnected the 3-4 inch pipe on the right of it and could feel air blowing, but it dont seem to be getting through this box and out of the vents,i have removed the 4 screws underneath and removed the filter which looks clean???

Maybe the intake to the blower motor is blocked, try it on recirc so it's drawing air from inside the car.

If it is blocked then that would be why the resistor burnt out as there would have been no air passing over it to cool it.
