Head Gasket

Hi, When a head gasket has been replaced does it mean at some point it will go again? Or should that be it. I suppose it depends the cause?

Is there a trend, should i stay away from a disco 2 TD5 that has had the gasket done?

Mine was done 6 years ago no probs so far (touches wood).thats about 40k ago

no head gasket with an aluminum head lasts forever ,once an engine gets over 10 years old it could be expected ,and if cooling system isnt up to scratch then its very likely to occur again quite quickly ,if it was seriously overheated its likely to go again but normally id look on it as a job someones already done as a positive

If its been done and had the better dowls fitted (metal) I wouldnt have a problem buying it
