The electrical gremlins have returned to my fathers L series Freeelander.

We have just changed the starting motor a few weeks ago due to poor starting. Starts like a dream now but a hiccup has occured.

When locking the doors, the horn beeps as if there is a door/window open. Also the interior lights stay on as does the light on the dashboard. we have checked all openings and everything is shut correctly however the above occurs.

Any clues as to where to start? has anyone had this problem?

Answers on a postcard please?

sounds like one of your door sensor/switchs is faulty, causing the interior light to stay on and making the alarm think a door is ajar. they should be open circut when doors are closed. a quick test of each sensor/switch will tell you which one is faulty.
good luck
Dylan

Thanks for the advice yella, you are always such a help!! lol

I have checked every oriface and they are closed.

stupid question, but i have looked round all the doors and cannot find a sensor as such. where are they located??

yu dont have R***?

Hi Dave assie has got it right ,the switch is in the door latch, the freelanders need ta know all doors windows bonnet ect are shut before deadlocks can operate[so it wont be deadlockin] the horn could be tryin to tell ya two things 1= a door or doors not shut properly 2= yer fob battery needs changing, but the big clue is yer int light is stayin on ,so door sensor it is . . . .un best oh luck. . . .:)

Hi Dave

Just a thought - is it a three door? If so, make sure the lid is on securely and the latches are done up tight - the sensor for the roof is on the offside rail that runs at 45degrees to the ground where the roof meets the body - worth making sure that this switch id OK and hasnt either stuck open or has water ingress

Cheers

Stu
