Gear select problems

havin gear select probs wi my 1999 freelander.
changed slave cylinder an the bracket, goes up the box fine now but coming back from 3rd to 2nd it just wont go in while moving!!
help an advise much needed

I take it that the rod that goes into the gearbox is not sticking? Other than that I am guessing that it could really only be the master cylinder or the clutch its self?

master cylinder an slave cylinder all 1 sealed unit so has been replaced also, like i say smooth in every gear change apart from 3rd down to 2nd??

so is it the 2nd gear synchro unit
