Galenising B pillar on 110

Hi Guys

just wondering if anyone has galvenised the sill and B pillar (and C pillar) assembly on a 110.
I want to but there seem to be some bolt liners through which the door hinge bolts go through. Would I need to get them out (how?) or just go ahead as is.

Addition suggestions on:
Clutch kit (paddock britpart @ £50)
Shockers (seen brit part springs and shockers for £200 on john craddock)

Also I need some wings!

The clutch and damper comment was meant to read... suggestions on what to get for best value (not necessarily the cheapest.

any thoughts on the above and the galv of b pillar...
 
ok thanks, even though there are plastic liners (i think they are plastic) in side the b pillar frame for the door hinge bolts?

maybe i could put a bolt through them for the galv process to give some protection ...

Dont forget to wash with soapy water and T wash before painting, the pic of it black is after T wash

When you galv them how did you protect the door hinge bolt liners...?
Also whats T wash?
should i be washing all galv items (plan to do bulk head, cappings, rear wing upright/corners, and even considering doing the boot floor struts and battery boxes... thoughts?)

AFAIK TWash is a solution used on galved metal to allow paint to adhere, so yes, if youve galved it and want to paint it, it will need TWashing

A google search of T wash doesnt bring up much.
i believe etch primers can get the same effect too...

I will deafo wash down with soapy water though.
 
no, an etch wont work on NEW galv, the TWash removes the salts created by the galv process, a soapy water will not do that, it will leave traces behind, which paint wont adhere to.

etch will work on older galv, as the salts have already been washed off over time.

If i remember right they came out, you do mean the plates with the nuts on ?

As for T wash think thats covered now:)
 
The bit i mean is inside the B pillar frame is peice with 2 holes that the door bolts go through, in this is a liner that the bolts go through - i think it is plastic but not sure. there is movement in these liners.

Might be best for me post a pic.

One final point to T wash - should i etch prime after t wash or just normal primer...

Getting new doors got mine soon too so would be interested in doing this too if they can be removed easily. Otherwise I'll just wait until I'm galvanising the bulkheads and all the other bits down the line with a new chassis if ever needed.
