Fuel line connector

I need to replace the fuel line on my P38 2.5 Diesel. It's the feed line from the in tank pump to the filter. The problem is that the line is in two parts and joins in the middle. Does anyone know how to separate the lines? I haven't taken it apart yet but I'm trying to make sure I know how to do it before I do so that I'm not left with the tank out while I try and find out.

Push the male end into the female connector depress the two tangs and pull the pipe out of it.

Yes there is a feed and return but it's just the feed that's a problem.
