Quick question - continuing with the saga of our electrickery problem (separate thread) - it appears that I can expose the channel through which the left side electrical harness runs from the bulkhead to the left front by removing the wheel arch 'fender' - is that correct before I go about this?

Depends how much loom you need to get at. I had an issue but it was an earth cable which is get atable once the head lamp is out.

We need to check the whole length - managed to pull some back towards the bulkhead to discover some badly damaged cores, but dealing with them didn't sort the issue so we need to look at the rest of the loom.

I've got the headlight out - but don't recall any earth c

ables there? The earth for the front indicators is on the bulkhead according to the wiring diagram.

Cables held up on little clips above the wheel arch.
Get some new fixings for the arches as you have to push the middles out to release them(or use big self tappers)
I put extra earths on the galv inner wheel arches for indicators & lights.
When you remove the arch there will be some spare cable length

If you remover the plastic wheel arch you can get at the wiring easily.
As @Hicap phill says the cables are held (or at least originally were) on clips above the arches.

The cables typically have bags of length and there are a bunch of joins for the lamps/indicators etc about 18" back from the lamps.

Here's mine pulled out between the wing and inner (before i replaced all the joins I hasten to add)...

The sheathed cables goto the side repeaters and the black are earths.
The hole is where the plastic clip goes (part # AFU1075).

I used SS self tappers when I put them back rather than the pins.
The bottom two fasteners are typically M6 bolts with the one at the back of the wheel being difficult to access and remove.

Mines a 1985 so earth's may be different on yours. I rebuilt her on a new chassis and bulkhead 23 years ago and did a lot of wiring modifications along the way...alot!
So I may have put more headlamp earths in? I don't recall.... but they are just inboard of the headlamp bowl on mine. I have an earth fitted to the brake master cylinder which
I forgot to reconnect a few years ago and the dash lamps and gauges went haywire.
