L322 Range Rover Vogue 2004 4.4petrol

My battery goes dead after leaving the car for 8+ hours. The battery is 6 months old and has been drop tested and is fine and if I fully charge it off the car its still fully charged a week later if I don’t put it on the car. Drove around for a week or so with a volt meter attached and was always over 14v and have tried pulling different fuses over night but no joy. Its now sat with battery reading 6.7v and my friend phoned me to say there is a glow from one of my headlights. Once I got home I looked and it was just the n/s full beam light glowing and flickering. Ive had the car 9 months and no end of problems with the eas and now it has a can bus problems I did wonder if this was related to the battery problem but 2 days ago I did the coil conversion (yes I know) but haven't told the computer yet just unplugged the power to the air pump. Many Thanks

A battery going to 6.7v overnight sounds like it's dead to me
When you've charged it up and left it overnight, what does the voltage settle to?
Not sure why just one headlight would be lit without the corresponding rear lit also, but could be related to a low voltage at the battery, it can cause all sorts of weird problems

Now I know very little about the L322 but, would think anything disconnected would result in a fault code and, who knows what else.

Your description suggests your battery if fine & you have a parasitic battery drain when the battery is on the car.
Get a diagnostic done with LR specific kit & see what comes up.

The lcm (light control module) could be a culprit. Bmw x3/5 l322 similar faults.
We have a client with an l322 2006.
17 lcm faults internally but no real physical problems... Check fog lights is one problem but the lights work?

Solved (I think)

Many thanks to everyone. I pulled out every fuse in glove box and left overnight and volts stayed the same. Over the last week or so I have been putting a dozen back in and once again leaving overnight. As I put in one of the big 50a fuses I noticed a ark and volts started to drop very quickly then the fuse blew. It was for the engine cooling fan which confused me as its a viscous van and I could only see a air con fan. ( i now know this doubles up as a cooling fan for engine aswell) So long story short that fan motor was shorting out and when I removed it and put the fan motor direct to a battery it started smoking within a few seconds. Now awaiting another fan and hope this was my problem

Brilliant result matey
You have to deal with the obvious problems first and then deal with the least second. It could well have been your issue:D

I'm led to believe some of the L322s even have electric thermostats and handbrakes. I mean, FFS, what next? An electric rear view mirror?

Or something that requires an earth is unable to take its correct route & is earthing through the light.
Much the same as when you're behind a car & when it brakes you get a dim brake light plus other lights coming on dimly. Usually a bad earth.

Hi all sorry me again.

So I installed the fan and everything working fine no fuses popping and air con nice and cold and fan cutting in and out. Whilst the engine was running I walked around the car and noticed the rear lights were having a disco and noted that the hazards or indicators not working. So got on hear to have a look and got the idea that the lcm could be faulty or even damp. We had very heavy rain yesterday so thought this could be the problem. Once I found the lcm I noted it was bone dry but I still unplugged it (battery disconnected) and left in a warm place for a few hours and also cleaned the termals on car and the lcm its self. Once I connected the battery again one of the full beam lights came on but went off after a few sec but still all the same problems. My question is does it sound like the lcm is at fault as im guessing other than changing it there is no way to tell. Or could it be a bad earth somewhere as people have suggested. Thanks again everyone.

Keith

Have a look under the carpets there is a channel that the wiring sits in and has been known to be full of water, check the wires i seam to remember there is a splice that gets wet.
