My car has recently been vandalised and I am considering to fit a Blackvue dash cam system. https://www.blackvue.co.uk.
For power reasons, this needs to be hardwired.
Has anyone installed a hardwired dash cam system?
I am a bit concerned with the installation procedure... can this be done by Land Rover ?
Thanks

Halfords fit stuff, and most garages would, I guess, for a price .. :)

For the hassle I saw one of the Halfords guys go through ,On a front and rear camera while I waited 2 hours to get tyres changed.

I would say they did a good job for the money.

Cheers

Hi

Sorry to hear urs was vandalised

I’ve just got a nextbase for my D3 and also bought a hardwire kit that will go onto my aux battery , so when it’s in parking mode won’t take any charge out of my main battery

I’ve Ran wires from my aux battery to upper glove box, where I will install a fuse box, then onto the dashcam , hiding it up the A trim and tucking it under the headlining , am waiting for my fuse box to arrive

u can get power packs , so the dashcams use that when the vehicle is turned off, but not difficult doing it urself

Or get the black vue installers to fit it for u

With the blackvue for a monthly fee u can also see through ur dashcam via ur iPhone, think it’s called blackvue cloud

Is that a D5 you’ve got plse

Yes, D5. I guess my main concern is that bkackvue engineers do a good installation. Since they are not LD engineers I am always worry...

Thks, can’t u do the install urself , as u can plug it into ur cig light , via a battery pack, so will be on when U switch the engine off , just a case of hiding the wires , removing the A pillar and then tucked up behind the headliner

Or if ur not happy doing the work urself , is there a radio / dashcam shop near u that do the install, or maybe Halfords as the other guys mentioned

I am afraid I can't. I don't mind to pay for a good installation, Blackvue engineers could be my best option but I don't know of anyone has used them..

Dont forget even wtith front and rear cameras the sides of the car will still be vulnerable.

I would hazard a guess most hgvs on the road are camered up, so maybe search for that instead, maybe a better choice?

I see that the OP is concerned about vandalism. OK, the police might be able to use dashcam footage, but if he wants to involve his insurance company they might prefer that the cameras were installed by professional installers, and produce the paperwork to show that this is the case.

That’s a very good point u know , ref the ins and having an improved installer verify it
