Hi all, this my first ever post, hopefully not my last so don't shoot me.
I'm turning 50 in a few weeks and have been actively looking for a 90 to tinker with and not overhaul.
However, I've found a series 2 modified to a 90, matching numbers, chassis and vin, but running a 200TDI, the benefit its now classed as a classic for insurance and ULEZ, would this be classed as a classic?
Knowing its really a 90 with just a series 2 chassis?

Welcome.
I think the motor will just be a 90 with series number plates attached.
If you have a link to the item please post
Good luck

Must admit I've never been a fan of hotchpotch Landrover, prefer one or the other.

Hi and welcome!

As mentioned, be mindful that it could well be a 90 with series 2 VIN plates. If so, it could be either an attempt at avoiding vehicle excise duty or a stolen vehicle. It would be sensible to look further into its history and ask questions of the seller.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi guys thanks for the info, so digging a bit deeper, I'm told complete 90 body made to fit on a series 2 chassis, no pics as yet, its a barn find project 90% complete. Needs interior. So although it fits my needs Tax, MOT and ULEZ exempt, not sure it fits the category of a Landy.

Take care that the ULEZ will not last, even before the boundary gets pushed out to the M25 ....

Not seen the points for historic vehicles before, as I've not researched it. Mine will pass in a couple of years .thanks for the info..

That my current issue, my friend has a fully restored series 3, no refinement at all, but love the ruggedness, but I currently have a 2016 sport but love the refinement, so this series 2/90 in need of interior sort of fits the bill, without the £100 LEZ and £12:50 ULEZ charges. Just don't wanna be another stat of having a ringer.

Hi all, I would like to thank everyone for thier help, I took a friend MOT tester with me, all your valid point taken. All numbers were different and a brand new vin plate, obviously bought on ebay and stamped by a 5year old.
What he did say, that makes some sense, is that many people have swapped engines, chassis to galvanised, but as my friend says, at least have some evidence of your work, which he never.
So my search continues.
Thank you

90% complete... not unusual for peeps to get near to finishing their project, only to find they can't legally put it on the road without major changes or they have gone too far from the origional vehicle. A lucky escape and well worth asking on ere for help.
