i can get it delivered, or pick it up when i'm at the yard, as you say they dont use much, a 25 litre tub would last a year i reckon (maybe 25 weeks at approx 200ml for 5 days a week!:D:D:D:D)

so a litre a month - you'd be saving less than a tenner a year on red

.... and you'll be having the fiddle and expense of fitting a secondary tank just fer the FBH

not so my friend!!! simply a tank off a strimmer/lawnmower or the like or an expansion tank of another car, small, leak and pressure proof and will slot in nicely under the bonnet.

others have used just a normal petrol can!!!

but your's is the diesel version right ?

what stopped you teeing off the main fuel line

.... unless you've gotta petrol engine ?

petrol engine, i did originally buy the petrol webasto but i fried the control board, its 250 quid for a new board so i got a doozel unit and thats worked out cheaper !!!!

just got to get the k-line diags kit for it, i can set the low voltage stuff then, that should prevent it killing the battery hopefully!!!

if ya want, you get the kit and i'll fit it yer!! i know where there should be a unit, what van is it?

i do believe i have the only p38 with the fbh fitted!!! certainly never seen one myself, i know they are fitted to newer rangeies and even to gaylanders as an option but they dont have the timer and remote unless you buy the upgrade kit seperately at about 300 quid extra!!!

yep. its a seperate fob, and a little reciever that you have to install. pretty much on the lines of this: DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - Webasto Heater operated by phone

but just soldering the wires on in piccy 3 and wireing them into one of these: RF Wireless Electric Garage Gate Door Remote Control 6R on eBay (end time 15-Dec-09 17:10:38 GMT)

this is the gsm box in the other link, it allows you to phone the thing and turn it on GSM REMOTE CONTROL, DIAL2OPEN GATE OPENER on eBay (end time 06-Jan-10 11:51:24 GMT)

you can buy the oem kits for both of these ways of starting the heater, but obviously theres a cost involved!!!

it also starts at a preset time, kinda like your house boiler does. thats the oval timer in the first link.

or you can press the instant heat button on the timer, thats basically what the remote bit does with the wires soldered to the timer

aye, but if you get up at the same time each morning you can set the timer and it will auto start.

the remote is purely so i can start the heater at work then go for my shower and come out to a warm car (i can set the timer but if i need to leave early/later than planned it saves me going to the car before showering)

the only bit i need to fathom is to get the blowers on for the windas, this i think will be achieved by using the other channel on the remote and a few relays to cut the car side off and turn the blowers on via the heater's control wires.

after all it only need 10 mins at most to clear the screen, i can do that before my shower!!!

its a good bit of kit!!!

the blower one (night heater) is probably better for the internal cab temp, dunno if its worth having a engine heater on a doozel but its up to you and depends on what you want to achieve!
