IP is the Injection Pump. Its the unit that the 4 steel injection pipes go to and also the throttle cable is attached to.
If you open and close the throttle, a lever on top of the injection pump moves. Just underneath it there is a threaded rod which part of the lever should sit against with the throttle closed. The rod is adjustable and should have a lock nut. If it has come loose, it can unwind and let the throttle close more and more until the engine keeps stalling.
Get someone to open the throttle until the engine is idling at just over 700rpm and see if the throttle stop is anywhere near where it should be on the lever. If it isn't, you can adjust it. If it looks about right, and isn't loose then the problem is probably elsewhere.
