the bulb for the clock has failed.

its not on coils and the EAS pump is giving good pressure.

how is the best way to get the clock out.. the rave method recommends using a four post lift and i'll be doing it in the driveway
 
I think you have to remove engine and access through bulkhead to get to the clock, and while the engines out replace with an oil burner for good measure:D:D:D:D
 
No, no. Separate the engine and transmission by moving the latter back by no more than 25 cm, squeeze between the two and only then make an access hatch in the bulkhead, simples.

Saves all that 4 poster and engine crane malarkey and it doesn't matter if it's raining - which it will be anyway.
 
Go to your nearest steelership immediately.... and they will put it on diagnostics, you must do this within 24 hours..... oh its Sunday tomorrow, man your well screwed then, all you can do in this instance is, ask your butler to buy another one
 
Now I am back in the P38 foray, I have devised a method for the swap out of the clock lamp....dead simple....

First, ensure you have neough space for the job.
Next, get a small bottle jack and raise the front of the vehicle
Ensure you have space to get the gearbox cross member out
Begin the strip out of the interior with special attention paid to the centre console
Remove all the exterior body panels - you should have something like this by now:

Now, using a 1/4" socket set and a 3 tonne bottle jack, lift the body off the chassis:

Now remove the running gear and place in a chassis rig to ensure the chassis remains true while the bulb is replaced in the socket

Refit is the reverse....

Well, that isn't for the faint of heart....so much work is involved, only the very initiated and experienced are allowed to undertake it, and even then it has to be under the supervision of a master technician and a rather portly stout gentlemen carrying a clip board....

It is seldom done these days due to the sheer complexity of it but if you must know, you remove the upper section of the centre console, the pop the lamp holder out from the rear of the clock, replace the lamp and refit the holder into the rear of the clock, then replace the upper part of the centre console....some have been able to even do it by forgoing the stout gentleman, but you have to have balls of steel to do that!!
