Copy the CD to the laptop with the working drive, then use a memoty stick/camera/ipod etc... to transfere the info to the laptop without a CD drive.

the car is not on the bump stops everytime i get in it it lifts to i would say a medium position but the laptop will not sync
if ther car is left unattended eventually after a few days it goes back to bump stops then it will not lift when started!!
unless i take the laptop back out and try to get it to sync again which it never does but EVERY SINGLE TIME I DO THIS the car will raise back to a medium position again and stays there if started every day unless its left again then it goes back down!!
now since all this i have cut the old obd2 socket off as all the points inside were green and would not clean and a good condition one has been put on each wire was cut from the old one and soldered to the CORRECT one on new plug i done one at a time so i could not go wrong solder looks good and all are heatshrunk individual also!
since this i have tried my laptop using vista and another using xp for many hours more than i care to mention in fact using the correct methods from all the videos and moving sliders as informed to each time making a change unplugging and switching off then try all again none work i am using the obd2 lead with serial other end and a usb to serial adapter with the correct driver as i have went over this many times also just incase!!
also every single time i check in device manager what comm port its using again just be sure and change it accordingly in the eas drop down menu!!
i have now bought another guaranteed 100% working and no faults logged eas ecu which will be here tomorow or next day but really theres not many opptions left!!
this is why the only thing i could think of was now to buy another laptop thats in good nick with a working dedicated serial port as thisis the only thing i have not done
and to clarify the old laptop i bought does have a cd-rom and i have downloaded all the correct files put them on cd in the correct way have been doing this for 10 years and trying to put them on the old laptop with serial port but as its only an original pentium 166 with 16mb ram its just not having it i bought it as i wasint wanting to spend too much money but it appears ill have to anyway now!!

i been thinking about your high tickover it will be interresting to see what its like when you run it on petrol, cant get away from the leek in gas pipe that could be why it made no change when yiu unpluged maf
