This is an annoying one. It doesn't sound like a heavy component and sounds like it is in the engine bay towards the right (looking at the car from the front).

Mainly at low speed but stops when stationary, which makes having a look with the bonnet up tricky.

Although it only happens when moving, which suggests something in the drive train, I'm wondering whether it's the alternator and it doesn't happen when stationary because the engine is at idling speed.

One other thing. It seems to disappear when everything has warmed up a bit.

Any ideas?

Could try jacking it up and spinning the wheel and see if it does it?

There's the alternator down there but also the tensioner and bracket. Any sign of cracking on the bracket? Isn't the steering pump somewhere down there too? Rumbling sounds a bit like wheel-bearing or diff. Doesit do it turning in any particular direction or on acceleration / lift off?
