The bloke who worked on it cocked something up. Simple as that. Take it to someone who knows what they are doing, there are lots about who claim to, but not many who really do.

Hi

Plus 1 what the others have said

May I just put my two cents in, lol

Indeed they are timing belts , inc the rear fuel pump one

U can’t change the turbo actuator without the turbo having to coming off and be set up correctly by a specialist

Plse tell me he’s replaced the oil pump cover at the same time

As the others have said get it to a specialist , otherwise if he’s done something really wrong say goodnight to the engine , 5k to replace

When the egrs were blanked the MAP sensor in the throttle body needs cleaning , plus hope he’s removed the butterfly flap from the throttle housing and put the butterfly pin back

Agree he sounds like someone who hasn’t got a clue

Plse let us know how u get on
Will do thanks to all ..

He told me that the fuel pump doesn't need timing because it's just a high pressure pump !!?
Because I asked him about that !!

Apologises as I should have said ref the front and rear belts ref to timing

Indeed the rear belt on the D3 isn’t timed, fronts are timed , apart from the aux belt , as a side note the D4 rear belt is timed

It concerns me greatly as I imagine it does with ur good self that this so called expert has done something wrong

Along with the main factor that there’s now issues which if not at least investigated by someone who knows what there doing could put ur engine at risk

He is telling ur porkies about the turbo actuator

Rattle I bet is the cam chain follower or worse still a failing oil pump which do fail regardless of year

It winds me up beyond belief when so called experts try and do something that they simply haven’t got a clue about

Hope all comes out ok in the end and there’s plenty here to always offer free advice

Plse let us know how it goes and fingers crossed hasn’t caused any damage

HP pumps aren't timed...(I think) as it's common rail injection.

Take note of @gstuart 's opinions, he has a Discvovery 4 which is essentially the same as the sport.
Particularly his view on the oil pump.

Hi mate

Mines a D3 , lol, , , indeed my engine is the same as the OPs

D4 has the twin turbos, which easy to tell when it has SDV6 on the back of the disco

Ur right ref the rear fuel pump belt, D3 belt isn’t times but the D4 is timed

Really hope the engine hasn’t been ruined as it’s going to be 5k alone just for the engine

For the D3 , ref the turbo actuator , the turbo has to be removed and put onto a bench and set up by a turbo specialist , plus a little secret , u can’t remove the actuator with the turbo still on the engine so the person who worked on it is telling porkies

I'm Getting .in touch with a Known Good Guy today.. thanks again for all your replys and advise and I will let you know what the outcome turns out to be !!!

Hi

Plenty here to always help

Also on the D3 forum there’s also excellent mechanics etc, one may be near u if u ever need one

Ref diagnostics the iid made by Gap is very good , bit expensive at £410 but pays for itself very quickly and will allow u to virtually do anything a dealers can , ie setting up suspension , live data , etc

https://www.gap-diagnostic.com/

As a side note , JLR dealers use the jaguar software and not the T4

Plse let us know what ur mechanic finds
