can anyone help me? My front door lock has stopped working. When you try and close the door it is not catching and closing. Do I need a new lock replacement?

Does the latch part still have the nylon bush in place around the metal pin?

Mine had same symptom and needed a new lock. A spring somewhere inside had let go and broken so wouldn't even catch when I closed the door. replacement was very fiddly and I would advise take plenty of photos before you start dismantling so you know where everything connects.
