Our IP67-rated toys could be submerged in 1 metre of water for 30mins to meet the IP67 tech-spec. IP68 was same time and depth, but PRESSURISED at that depth. We considered modifying ours by using Goretex Membrane, but deemed unecessary by our customers.
Don't know how many IP65 products on the internet get away with being advertised as "waterPROOF" these days! But then again, I'm not the ASA if they're still around!

That sounds right. My front camera purported to be waterproof and IP something or other. First river I went through (about a month after buying and fitting it) and it blue-screened. Still, at least I knew I had exceeded the recommended wading depth. It did recover about 6 months later.

Although not as good as Marty's refurbished latches, you could try just replacing the microswitches. It's quite fiddly, and does require soldering. Wear in the latch mechanism & the microswitch push-buttons are what causes the switches to toggle when they shouldn't.

Not that confident for that job, more of a hammer and chisel man myself

Which pit were you at? My grandad was a West Cumbria Coalfield miner.
Treeton South Yorks, we were the pit that fed the Orgreave coking plant (all the troubles in 1984 strike). Was an underground fitter hence skill with hammer and chisel. One accident too many in late eighties caused me to leave.
One of the best jobs I ever had, great blokes to work with.

My grandad was badly hurt in a big mine explosion and thereafter was the tally man. Died in his early fifties of pneumoconiosis. I was only 4 when he died but have amazing memories of times spent with him.

I broke a hand, knee got buried twice then on a conveyor belt dragged under girder frame smashing my face in plus neck and back. Had to have my face rebuilt, was in all the papers showing the framework that held the front of my face on. How about this made page 5 of the Sun:p:D:p

Newer ones need soldering. The older ones with 2 plugs just clip in and out.

OUCH!!! Some guys will do anything for a bit of attention! Thought I was bad enough when I fell six metres when stupidly climbing solo in the Scottish Highlands. Burst 3 discs in lower back, both shoulders rebuilt and elbows operated on and aggravated an old neck injury. Banged up everything else during the process. When I got home, my wife said it was a shame I didn't land on my head..."it might have knocked some sense into me"!
That was the extent of her sympathy after thirty odd years of marriage at the time

Did you have your baps out? :p:D
Afraid not but will these do

Yes that is a budgie, twas the sense o humour we had down pit. Lads bought me a budgie, bird bath ,ladders and took me to pub and decorated it with cocktail umbrellas and the like
