Discovery ramps...

In the end, I bought a pair of ramps from Halfords - £40 the pair.
I ran out of time for making my own because the handbrake kept loosening and it just had to be done.
So the ramps are in the boot and every couple of hundred miles I have to run the disco up 1 or 2 of the ramps, crawl underneath and tighten the handbrake.
I'm beginning to see the appeal of a 2" lifting kit with bigger wheels :)

How fat are you?:D I have standard tyres and no lift, but I can get under the car to do most jobs, e.g. grease props & UJs, adjust handbrake etc with out jacking it up or driving it up ramps

Ditto, if I need a bit more room i put two wheels up onto the kerb and if i need a lot more room i stick a spare wheel under one or both of the roadside wheels too... good as a 4 poster (well nearly!) just need a stack of breezeblocks to make your jack reach again...

You're all mad! :)

One thing I noted about using kerbs was that I always ended up lying in the gutter along with all the dirt and grease collected there - fair makes a mess of my clothes :)

How fat am I - well too fat to be honest - but I think some of you may be too skinny for your own good :)

I like my ramps because:

they save me lying in the gutter
they're easily transportable (save me looking for kerbs)
they take up less room in the boot/garage than extra wheels or any usefully sized dead animals :)
