Dear forum members

My Land Rover Discovery 4 diesel is not running or moving. When I start the engine, it misfires (shakes a lot) and emits white smoke. Pressing the accelerator does nothing—the RPM doesn’t increase at all. I took it to a mechanic, and he found oil in the cylinders when he removed the fuel injectors. Does anyone have any suggestions about what might be causing this issue?

Thanks

I don’t understand much about this, I just want to have a basic understanding so I’m not misled by the mechanic.

Could it still be crank failure even if the car starts?Running engine

And what could explain the accelerator having no response when pressed?

Thanks
Few videos on youtube or the internet, all start, all sound terrible.
Spend some time doing a bit of googling and you will see it is quite an issue on the 3.0.

I believe it might not be financially worthwhile to repair it, so I’ll wait for the mechanic’s quote.

Thanks you for you help

I have a d3 and they are pretty much worthless, and the early d4s are headed the same way, shame as both are nice useful cars.

Like all older land rovers, to run one you need to be rich or a mechanic!
