Discovery 1 250 Diesel -Gear selection problem

I have a problem with gear selection at times. The gear selector does not always go straight across the gate say from 3rd to 4th. I have to move the gear lever sideways a bit to find the gear otherwise it baulks. No problem with clutch engage or disengage. Is there a gear selector linkage involved because that's what it feels like ie a worn one?

My TD5 does this too, but it's worst going from 2nd to 3rd.

It happens because some careless druggie in the factory didn't set the gear lever centralising doo-dah properly and the lever isn't quite in the middle.

Bummer. Horrible job to adjust I think.
