there was a damp area by the battery safety valve tho - and D71 sed it was bubbling out of there and bulging
good fun innitDeff a batt or alternator problem then. I wonder if he has a battery plate that's come adrift/broken and is touching and creating a dead short when he's hitting bumps? Whatever it is, getting covered in exploding battery isn't on my top 10 things to do list especially as I've had it happen to me twice while investigating customers cars.

It's amazing how quick yer clothes rot away. If yer unlucky enough to have it happen in the morning yer clothes are just about staying on by the time you get home.

I've been lucky in that respect. The first time I had bent down to pick up a differents size spanner when it happend so had it over my back. The second time I had just lifted the plastic battery cover off by about 6" as it went. The cover took the majority of the blast and I only got it on my hands and up my top and trousers.
I woulda thought it woulda smelt eggy if it wuz kentucky fried battery though.
