Localised flooding on the a90 dual carridgeway

I drove down carefully in my pug partner and passed 3 disco 2s in or just after standing water - roughly a foot deep

I was wondering how they ended up in this position knowing what a standard disco is capible of even without raised intakes. - even a stock v8 should have been able to clear these puddles.

It all became clear when a fiesta tooted and flashed me out the road into the standing water on the inside lane. He took off at what ever speed hit he next standing water at that speed and all i saw was big splash followed by the lights flashing off upahead

Got to the puddle my self and slowed down to negotiate it - even at 10mph it was coming up onto the windscreen from the wheels , passed the lad hammering the crap out his steering wheel realising he'd just made a very expensive cock up.

Id have given him a hand if he hadnt been such a cock about it. He was safe anyway the bear road co van with all its flashy lights was protecting him

Anyway morel of the story is its a 4x4 not a speedboat or a aqua foil. Dont give landys a bad name or all the euroboxes and lunchbox sized cars will be laughing at us.

I'm amazed to see how fast some people drive through floods... and large puddles for that matter.

I was coming through a flood the other day, when a Golf rag top came the other way, with a goof 6 feet of spray coming off the wheels.. I stopped, and to get passed me he had to dive into the deeper water which didn't put him off, even with the bow wave coming over his bonnet.

Also found a lady in a hedge who described "taking off" when she hit a large puddle. She had skimmed over the puddle and into the hedge.. funnily enough she'd never skimmed a stone and didn't see the funny side.

Theres roads where I will hit the puddles fast but thats cause I know they arnt too deep and the only thing im going to damage is the 90 or my self lol .

Knowing my luck my 90 with a snorkel would get stuck and the wife would drive past in her stock d2 waving lol

Have deep water round my way and a knob in a d3 pulled round me and said I shouldn't have a 4x4 if im too scared to use it and sped through a flood thats about 16" deep. I only slowed to a crawl to lock it in second and cruise through.

We've normally had engine jobs lined right up the yard when the floods are about but we don't seem to have been hit by as much rain as what I've seen on television.
