Hi,
RR 2.5dt. Lights on message centre, climate control etc are dim in daylight.
When i put headlights on do not get any dimmer. Have tried increasing brightness with switch on end of indicator stalk, no joy.
This switch will only dim and brighten when headlights are on.
Any suggestions.

Replace blown backlight bulbs. Maybe.

Tried this with some.but no difference. It looks like the lights are stuck in the position of dimming that happens when you switch your headlights on. Maybe the unit that controls this function is stuck or something. If so where is it?

God knows, somewhere in the BECM i should think. Irish maybe able to enlighten you, he is **** hot on the leccy side.

Same problem on my P38 Rangie, was told that the BECM throws a wobbler and that causes the lights to be always dim. Never managed to fix mine.

Now have eyeballs on stalks with infrared option in order to read the dashboard.

Just looked a RAVE the dimming is controlled by the BECM. With sidelights switched on, not headlights. Try pressing the the switch on your stalk, not from side to side but straight down, this is supposed to send dimmer to next level. Whilst to left decreases and to right increases brightness. If that does not work either you have a bad connection to that switch or the BECM is having a tiswas.
