So I have no sound coming out of the speakers of my stereo on my 02 P38, and has been like this since I bought it earlier this year.

Decided today to investigate a little today, I am yet to take the radio out, but I notice with the radio if I press the button next to the i, it just gives the balance, fad, and sub levels I thought it should give the DSp menu can any one confirm that.

Thanks,
Jamie.

Sounds like there is no comms between HU and DSP amp.

The Alpine HUs work in one of two modes - if it senses a DSP amp, it outputs a fixed-level signal to the amp and acts as a remote control - all the functionality, including volume control, is handled by the amp itself.

If there's no DSP amp sensed, it acts like a normal HU (with the exception of the bespoke 70 ohm 'headphone level' output required by the H/K amps).

That diagnosis suggests your DSP amp is dead - but also check your HU output - you can do this with a pair of headphones with bare wires, or a multimeter set to measure up to 2v AC.

Clarky thanks for the response, I assumed the DSP menu not being available suggesting the head unit and Amp aren't talking to each other.

Am I right in thinking that the pink and black wire is the comms link between the amp and head unit.
