Just back from the defender factory tour this afternoon, was nice to see them being put together on what was a very interesting tour of the manufacturing facility. Not long left to what is the end of an era!

Saw them undergoing the 'drench' test, didn't manage to find out how many vehicles leak on this particular test though.

Lots of drooling over the nice shiney motors coming off the production line.....if only I had the money!

Recommend the tour if your interested in the defender but am not sure how many tour places are left until production finishes at the end of Jan

Booked mine today...
I checked this morning and they had nothing available then a hour later 3 available for the 5th of Jan. ... so I booked it for me and my 2 mates lol

I'd like to hear the details on the drench test? I find it amusing that Land Rover has continued over all these years to invest in such a test without the production of a long lasting cure? When does production finally cease, does anyone know? I heard that they have had to continue in to the first half of next year to fulfil orders to date?

No time has been given specifically but production is now planned to end in February. However we had heard it was meant to end in October 2015.

Regarding the drench test each vehicle spends 15 minutes in there. When I went in November I asked about if they leak after 15 minutes. The only response I got is that they pass the test. I don't know what Land Rover class as a pass. But I tried to have a look inside a vehicle that had come out the test and couldn't see a drop inside the main cab area.

Drench test, is that where you drive it through a puddle and your feet end up drenched?
