The door cards are often loose due to broken clips that hold them to the door.
Often it's the yellow part in the door card, the little button breaks off so you can't attach the clip.
New door cards cost £150 each!!
There's a way to repair these, which was suggested in a previous thread back in April, so l thought l would give it a try.

I cut off the remains of the button that you slide the clip on to, with a stanley knife.
Then drilled a small hole through the centre of the yellow part.
Found a flat headed screw where the head will fit into the door trim clip, and screwed it into the hole.
Refitted the clips as normal. Job done!

When I bought mine if had been owned by a painter, there were little white paint specs on the door cards, I popped them off to clean but everything I tried including full on jet wash would not shift it.
Went to Halford and bought two cans of grey flexible plastic paint spray, sprayed them both and they are almost like new and after two years they still look good. Bought some new clips on ebay and Bobs your aunties live in lover, saved a good bit there.
 
Yes as long as the yellow parts in the door are not broken, new clips can be fitted.

But if they are, you can use the repair l suggested above.

I worked out a way to repair these, so it's as good as new.

lightning you asked the question back on April the 26th "repairing door cards" and I gave you the answer you describe as "I have worked it out" it must have taken a long time to reach you.
 
OK l don't remember that, l'll have a look back and change my post deleting "l worked it out" if it's true.

I only posted it to help others anyway, not to take the credit for figuring out a repair.
 
I looked back and you are right! Sorry about that. Hopefully the pictures l posted might be of some help though.

I have updated my original post to correct the mistake!

I actually just looked at it and thought it would work.
I have owned a lot of classic cars where you can't easily get trim parts, and l often had to make parts or figure out a repair.

So my reply to you was a waste of my time and trouble, I hope others have found it useful but it was in reply to your thread to help you.

No it was not a "waste of your time and trouble" it was great advice and probably where l got the idea from, you know, somebody tells you something and it comes back to you maybe without you realising where the idea originated :)

I lost count of the times l have given advice on forums, and it has been either skipped over or roundly ignored.

It just happens.
 
Bit of advice when you re fit the card put a tiny amount of silicon grease on your fingers and just lightly smear the expanding part of the plastic trim clips, they go in easily and usually come our without breaking.
