Hi

Can anyone help ?

I have a Defender 90 (Y) and the heater is blowing cold air ! it started a few days ago when the warm air suddenly became cold then after moving the lever up a down a few times it would go back to warm, however now it is cold air all the time. The fan is working ok .

Mine had this issue, it was the arm above the heater box had moved up or down the shaft and come off the splines. So it was on the smooth part so would initially go warm but then the flap would return where cold would come out.

Anyway moved it back to it's correct position on the shaft and now works very well.

Hi don't want to hijack your thread but need some heater advice too, mine has heat but im not feeling it that well how can you make it blow hotter? Ta

make sure the cables are properly adjusted (ie so the flaps opening fully)
back flush the matrix, make sure theres no leaves/crap in the box
seal the duct pipes and connections with duct tape.

I've adjusted the heater in my 90 and it's miles better than it was. But the back is still freezing. Has anyone installed a rear heater in a 90 with back seats ? I had a look at Webasto's but they're miles more expensive than I want to pay. Anyone plumbed in an additional rear heater-matrix ? Or any other ideas ?

MarkC123,

Yep got a second water heater in th back of my 90. Made a box out of MDF, heater matrix and fan from a Volvo440. plumbed into the heater to engine rubber pipes. Use a relay to sitch the fan and it sucks the air in from the back.
Its great, the best demister for the back!

PTC Ceramic In Cab Heater 12V - 300W Auto Heater Fan | eBay

Mounted one on the roof above the bulkhead behind the seats in my 90 - andled towards the windscreen it certainly helps warm things up, but don't expect it to be like a 3kw home fan heater!

300w is about the most you caan run off the battery (wired directly and fused)

Few threads on here with other feedback as well

70 quid!? Thats not cheap lol. Is it worth the cash though? I may look into one if you recommend it

Ratty seems to think so:)

Me - pleased I have it but it's not 'to die for'

Have tried to be balanced in saying it certainly takes the edge off and makes a difference, but don't think you're buying something like an indoor fan heater - that it is not;)
