hi i have a problem with my engine on my freelander 2.5 V6 2002 model. i thought i may have dirt in the injectors but cleaner didnt work so on a recent visit to the kingdom of fife my engine management light came on. phoned the RAC and it showed a fault at cylinder A relating to the coil so he swapped the coil for another same fault showed. so changed spark plugs from one at the front to cylinder A and he said that the one at the front was sparking cleaner than the one at the back. car ran great all the way home and for the next few days until sunday when it misfired for all off 2 minutes. i was wondering if i should maybe get the engine serviced and replace all the plugs and leads. has anyone else had a similar problem or does anyone have any ideas that may help.

i will defo be changing the plugs although not by myself access to the back three is extremely difficult. so i guess my local mechanic will get to make some money.

could be a ht lead breaking down, best change plugs first, if you still have the problem check leads, a good check is looking in the dark for any arcing , wear some good rubber gloves and a stick and move the leads to see if any arcing :):):)

Mileage ? Recently serviced?

So,

you bought a car with an unkown service history,
and....
.... then drove it around for 5 months and through the worst Winter on record without servicing it yourself.

Especially the V6

First thing I do with a new vehicle is carry out a full service - unless the seller is a dealer and provides a full service with the sale - all documented and stamped in the book.

although i bought the car in september because the ird went within a week i didnt have it on the road for ten weeks. i was told it had a new timing belt the year before although i do plan to change it myself. i had all the brakes renewed including drums and discs and replaced the full exhaust. i have only done 1,000 miles in the vehicle myself because a lot of the time i use my hubbys car( a 2ltr saab 93 turbo) very nippy little number. i am going to book it in to my mechanic for a week on monday due to him being very busy. as far as i know the timing belt is a 5 hour job can anyone confirm?

Brains aswell as tits:D:D
