Yesterday I had to call |Assist out to my 3rd Park Brake Fault. My car is 2 yrs old in the Summer and only done 20K. The LR Garage have called to say that their computer says there cld be a clutch problem. They have called me to say - they need me to authorise the stripping down of the parts to get to the clutch to see if it has gone. They explained if it has gone I will have to pay £250 + vat for the strip down, plus a fee to put it back together and also the cost of a new clutch shld it have been worn out. They explnd the warranty does not cvr a worn clutch as down to wear and tear!.
I am so annoyed, I have had a TDI for 2 years (only thing that went wrong with that was an ignition barrel), a TD5 for four years with no problems.
I have not agreed to the £250 fee, so they have said that they will not do anything with it and that I have to pk the car up. What I want them to do is to agree to pay for a new clutch shld there be a fault or worn as I explnd that I do not tow, go off road etc and that if the clutch is worn I explained there must be a fault with the product.
Anyone else out there have the same problems as me?, can anyone give me advice as to what I can do next as I will still have my park brake fault.

Think you need a new keyboard as well, seems some of the vowels have been stolen - CLD Centre Locking Diff??

Looks like Dec 06 Manual Disco 3 has also fallen to the clutch plague. 67k miles and very little towing. This is my third Discovery having had two Disco 2's and two defenders previously. I've racked up well over 250k miles in the other vehicles in total with no clutch problems. My wife has a Disco 2 with 80k on it and no issues. My D3 had it's first big issues last summer when a cpu failure caused the near side to drop to access mode. I complained about the clutch at the time as it was juddery on take up - particularly on a hill. Got the "we'll strip but if LR say no then you pay" story. Fortunately LR paid up - this was at 53k mies. Got the park brake failure warning last week and have noticed the sluggish gear display together with loss of rear proximity sensor - wasn't over worried until a complete clutch failure today - totally out of the blue- no warning at all. Pedal is at the bulkhead. Not sure what the damage is yet - could be hydraulics but I suspect from the smell that it's a clutch.

I do not believe that the D3 clutch is fit for purpose and am interested in joining any action - Watchdog or similar.

don't think i'll be buying a d3 then. I've got a 300 tdi 180,000mls on the clock changed the clutch yesterday and that was because it had broken up. On a different note i used to work for a lr main stealer in the north west. They are aware of the issues, and that it is infact down to parts failure. you'd be surprise what a valeter sees and hears,or for that matter gets told my tecs, and the like. At the end of the day we are just car washer right.

Discovery 3 .New March 2006. New clutch at 23,000 miles, car recovered from holiday in Vienna, replaced under warranty, Work done not explained. Second clutch and new flywheel required 50,000 miles December 2010, no assistance from L/R customer services wear and tear not helpfull. Seems to me from other reports problem with manual transmissions. I notice all new Discovery transmissions automatic!.

Have an 08 Disco 3 and detected a bit of clutch slip. I had a Disco II with 130 k on clock and never needed a new clutch. Now with Disco 3 at 70k flywheel has gone but clutch plate hasn't. LR dealer told extended warranty company it was wear and tear. I have never had a flywheel needing replacing before a clutch plate so am contesting.

Second problem is front to back brakepipe. What sort of engineer designs a brake pipe that requires the body to be separated from the chassis? make way for Noddy! It is hardly the image LandRover portrays.

As others exactly same fault. Autorelease on park brake failure, loss of reverse light and sensor function. LR picked up clutch problem and needed to strip down to decide if wear and tear. Only flywheel faulty. Can anyone explain to me how a flywheel can fail before a clutch plate. LandRover clearly have a clutch design fault. Anyone want to join a group to raise thsi with Watchdog.
