Assuming the sensor is accurate and the connectors are not corroded.Faultmate will give you exact gearbox temperature readings

It's a fill to the level box, so remove the filler plug whilst engine running (I'm sure someone can enlighten you to the correct temp)run it through all the gears P R N D and back to p holding for 5 secs in each gear and fill until it starts overflowing.
