hi

i bought a tow bar for my fl1 and after reading through the posts on here i noticed that there is a total of 8 x bolts to secure the lower cross member on

also on the cross member the brackets seems to be slightly bent in, i assume as both ends are like this is the norm

however on reading it seems as though the two bolts that go up require 2 x flat plates .

have searched online and cant find them anywhere and was wondering does anyone happen to know where u can get them from please, or are they required on every model plse

bought it second hand so will give it a rub down first and give it a couple of coats of hammerite first

the towball is a combined ball and pin type

will get the 12 n wiring loom and relay and by what ive read seems straight forward, its just these two flat plates that im looking for

thks so much guys.

I have a Whitter towbar fitted to mine. I bought it new from an eBay dealer back in the summer. It came with everything I needed to fit the Freelander. There are 3 bolts into the inner chassis rails each side. You will have to remove the bolts that bolt the tow ring as the towbar will occupy the holes.
There are also 2 bolts that screw up into the boot sill. There are captive nuts fitted to accommodate these. Good luck with it!!

I fitted a Witter removeable towbar a couple of months ago.

3 bolts at each end and 2 that went through some plates that are welded to the towbar,

I have no idea what plates you are looking for.

What make of towbar is it, and where did you read about the plates.
Cant you make your own plates or use big f**k off washers?

Does this help at all Gary?

thats it, brilliant , i must have been looking at the wrong instructions on line,

as it showed two metal brackets where the bolts go upwards but on these instructions there are captive nuts

the towbar is genuine land rover and the combined ball and pin is whitter .

so now know im all set

thks so much guys and apologise for being so dim ,well till the next time anyway , lolol

as always , very grateful

To answer your question on the side plates, yes they're meant to be bent as the inside of the body where they mount to tapered
