All that effort and you didn't bother to paint the wheels :p Quick rub down and a lick of gloss black would finish it off nicely.

Looks very nice though and should now be good for many years to come.

Funny you should mention the colour of them. I quite liked the idea of gloss black, then after looking at it with silver wheels, I think I prefer the silver.

Either way, they need sorting out.:D

Black would be better than silver as everything else on the vehicle is black. But it is a personal thing and I don't like silver wheels, with black or white/limestone. I see they are balanced but if you marked the tyre and rim you could remove the and refit the tyres yourself to make things easier for painting, otherwise it is lots of masking! I stripped mine back to metal, and painted with red oxide and black machinery enamel which so far has stood up far better then the series wheels which I did the same with but top coated with standard limestone coach enamel.

I like the idea of doing it myself. I would need to sort a second set of wheels to use while these are sorted, as I couldn’t take it back off the road again.

Have a look on youtube for videos of how to remove a tyre using levers. Look for HGV ones otherwise you get rednecks doing it with screwdrivers! You can break the bead using a highlift, there is an Aussie video showing you how to do that. As long as you have a spare you can do it over a period of time one wheel at a time and keep driving it. I have 6 wheels so did them in pairs but it is the same principle.
 
I’d get the wheels shotblasted and painted off white. They’d look very good and would finish it off nicely in my opinion.
 
Shot blasting cost money though, I cleaned mine back to bare metal using a cup-brush on an angle grinder. Took a bit of time, but I had more time than money when I did them!

I used to work at a place that has a few shot/bead blasters. I may be able to use them, but failing that, wire brushes of different varieties for the grinder and drill can be used.

I did everything on the ones fitted to the sereis (tubed HD "wolf" rims) but that was mostly because of the age and abuse they had had they needed it. The ones on the 110 I just did the outside and the bead seat as that was all that was needed, as they were new modulators I fitted about 8 years ago..

I think mine are tubed, but not certain. I would need to have a proper look.

I would rather strip them fully and do it all once, if I’m going to do it at all. I need to speak to a friend and see if he hasn’t a spare set of wheels I can use.

If they are tubed they are even easier to do the tyres yourself, you don't have any issues re-seating the bead then you refit them if they are tubed! doing them all together would definitely be easier, but if you cant get a spare set one at time is still the long option!
