ARB LINKS. Update Needed..

Hello all.

I know this has been done to death in the past but, after a search it seems that most of the info on suppliers of anti roll bar links on this site are out of date, regarding on line!

Would welcome any up to date info on these items and where to get them. Also any hints and tips to fitting them.

I have changed mine every year before the MOT.
Just get the cheap ones off Ebay,about a tenner.
Its not the links that fail,just the rubber gaiters that perish.
The other benefit is they are not likely to be seized.
Just put the wheel on full lock and 5 minutes a side to change.

I got mine from Land Rover. Fitted them about a year ago and they've been fine and dandy ever since. I think they were about £30ish for the pair.

During the few years of Freelander 1 ownership, I have replaced the drop links with, Genuine LR, Delphi and Lemforder...they are all crap lasting just over a year. Have also tried Britpart which lasted around 9 months. The car is never used off road, just normal everyday motoring.
All in all, taking price into consideration and life of product, there is nothing to choose between any of them.
I have never owned a car which gets through them at such a rapid wear rate and short life, the ball joints have a cheap and nasty moulded plastic seat, just looking at any of them, makes them appear like cheap & nasty Chinese sh*t fit for a Nissan Micra !!!
Admittedly, they are easy to change but at the end of the day they should not be regarded as a "Consumable" annual item.
My opinion cost wise is that it is more economical on a time basis to replace them with the likes of Britpart or Allmakes as this will be cheaper than using LR or the "Premium" products. After all they only take minutes to change on a DIY basis.
Genuine LR "Quality ???", to me means nothing after having many issues with them over the years of various model ownership. People get brainwashed by the "Genuine Parts are best" thinking. After all, LR don't make 90% of the component parts-they buy them in. I've never seen genuine LR tyres, batteries, Clutches, bearings etc., etc.

Mine are still all originals from new.......10 years on and just passed its latest mot.

Has it been parked up for the last 10 years?

I have also tried the cheap and the OEM varieties,no difference.

Then again rural Lincolnshire ain`t Stockport.We must have toxic rain this side of the mountains.

Also all my other cars,(VAG products) which do more miles individually than my Freelander never have a problems with drop links and they are also diesels.

I`m resigned to it and just get it a new set for its birthday.

and change every year, reason being. I go Off road in this vehicle every week for my hobby/pass time.

I follow Defenders, 90's and all makes up to a very high point on the moors above Lancashire and to date in all weathers and seasons it has not let me down.

My only trouble is..

if i have to replace this motor, what with?

It drives like a car, Go's off road, and cruises at Motorway Speeds!
