Yeah I would try & remove that kink with a bit of hairdryer heat or chop it out & re-join it, as a D2 with sunroofs don't need any help to ruin the headlining

Remove the felt and sponge from it, wash them well, let them dry and refit

Of course it will restrict it slightly if you use an internal joiner but I was thinking using a piece of hose with the I.D big enough to take the O.D of the existing tube & glue together. Then route the drain correctly where it won't get squished.
