Folks am in dire need of help here.
I had a bump with a wall in snow back in December and have had the front end rebuilt with used parts and a new seat belt tensioner installed but the SRS light is staying on. The local independent Land Rover garage says it needs a new ECU which with fitting comes to just under a grand! I'm told it's 8 hours labour to take the dash apart to replace it plus the cost of a new ECU at nearly £400! Is there an easy fix? The car will fail it's next MOT if the light is on permanently. Is there a way of turning it off which is only an advisory?

The SRS computer is in the transmission tunnel under the heater fan box, in front of the gear lever. Yer dun't need to take the dash out to get to it although that may be the text book method.
