Just looking at tow bars so i can get on with buying a camping trailer of some kind. Do i have to buy a swan neck or is a normal tow ball ok and what is the difference to me just towing a trailer?

Also, i'm considering getting a sankey to do up or one already done and if i do can i add something to a normal towbar to accommodate a NATO hitch or do i need something different?

I'm new to towing as you can tell but the rangey is crammed when we go camping so need a trailer.

you don't need a swan neck towbar to be able to tow. The only advantage is that the swan neck is removable, so it doesnt look ugly when you arent towing. Most people who tow for a living end up using a Dixon-bate type drop hitch tow bar. This means that you are able to adjust what height the tow bar sits at and you can quickly change the type of tow bar/ pintle you are using. If you had a DB hitch fitted, you could have a normal 50mm tow bar hitch, as well as having a NATO tow hitch on a separate plate. this would be the easiest way to tackle the problem. If you just had a height adjustable hitch, you could change the pintle with a couple of spanners. A Swan neck will only ever be able to tow 50mm tow bars.

If not, then an adjustable height tow hitch would be a good idea, if you plan on towing different trailers- they're adjustable...
