Aftermarket or original door seals

Does anyone have any experience of any differences between aftermarket and original door seals (for the front doors of a 110)?

Just replaced both my front doors, and now the locks get very tight. My local expert says it's because the aftermarket door seals I had on the old leaky doors are too bulky and stiff for the new doors. Could they be right? I'm reluctant to spend another £100, but if needs must...
 
Yeah I fitted a pair of bearmach ones and they were tight to shut the door for a good while, but they have eased off a bit now.

The drivers door more so, but the passenger door which gets hardly any use is noticeably stiffer when you shut the door. Just needs a good slam. They seem to work okay though. As in no water is coming in
 
Put aftermarket ones on mine (Bearmach I think, but might have been Britpart) have been no bother. Don't have to slam the doors and no water coming in either. You might just need a packing piece in the door post side of the hinges.
 
I found the cheap ones fine for the front doors but for the 2nd row they were worse than useless. Genuine on the 2nd row were pricey but fitted perfectly.
 
Got myself a part of Britpart front seals.
The foam inserts were way to thick to shut the doors, had to remove them.
But I can't compare them to newly supplied OEM ones, so I rest my case
 
Thanks all. Maybe I'll give them a bit of time to loosen up. Not sure loving wife finds crawling in through the back door, when the doors jam shut, all that much fun, but I'll tell her it's all part of the Defender experience.
