Cruise control has decided not to work. Was working last week on way from Cornwall then stopped when car left over night.
Switch on dash lights up but pressing set on steering wheel does nothing.
Any thoughts would be of help.

check the pipe going to the belows at throttle linkage under bonnet, the small bore vacuum pipe perishes! it happened to me, good place to try first!

rangerover cruise control system seems to be a pain in the ar*e , never owned one yet that worked perfect , my 97 4.6 will work great one day then just do sod all for the next couple of weeks  initially i found a couple of dodgey vac pipes these where replaced and i thought great its sorted , wrong !!!! it still plays silly buggers , its annoying because its the only fault on the car , i think its time to look at it with the multimeter :) .

On my 97 4.6 the CC also works what appears to be randomly. I have replaced the vaccum hoses, the pump and checked the vaccum switch at the brake pedal and it is no better. I have used the factory workshop manual troubleshpooting procedure and it all checks, the only thing I have been unable to check is the pulses from the wheel sensors.

I have been wondering about the wheel sensors a bit, it takes a long time for the lwarning ights to go out. Maybe the next step toward a consistently working CC is to adjust the sensor gaps and remove any rust from the pulse wheels?
