300Tdi Radiator

My 300Tdi rad has lost 70% of the fins. It does not leak.
Can it be repaired? Is it worth it? Do I buy a new one?
Cheapest rad I can find is -

hi matey , best option if not the cheapest is an old fashioned re-core ,new ali rads are ok but i seem to have to replace them because of minor leaks only a few years later

Last time I checked with my local place (which I have used several times over the past 20+ years) a re-core was more expensive than a new copper / brass radiator.
Personally I dislike the modern alloy / plastic ones and bought a Bearmach 300TDi copper / brass item instead. Cost only 30% more and looked to be as well made as the genuine one it replaced.

I had one of these for my 200tdi Disco 200tdi and its still going strong four years later and two of those it was standing

Can't decide at mo, Are copper ones better than aluminium?
Hi James, are you keeping, Just removed the wing ready for the big repair!!
Tax runs out end of Dec so the wife's car will be relegated to the road so Monty (110 CSW) can keep the driveway company while I get round to the task of straightening the chassis with new radius arm mount new axle and anything else I find - Like for instance the the bracket welded to the bulkhead for the two screws for the inner wing. Its hanging by a thread

seem to last much longer

Am I right in thinking that an aluminium one will cool a bit more than a copper/brass one?

Cant see why considering copper conducts heat better

Because thats what this advert kinda says -

15% it says over a standard one. So the next question is what is the original Land Rover fitment copper or aluminium??

I fitted one to my old disco last year, was pretty good I seem to remember, will be fitting one to my defender when the current one finally gives up the ghost.
mind you I'm liking the poor cooling from the main rad at the moment more heat to the heater matrix, cheaper thana muff

copper was originally fitted ,15% more cooling isnt important, the std rad cooled more than well enough until baffles or fins fail
