Sorry to be a pain, but are you certain. There are two belts depending upon alternator pulley diameter. The shorter belt looks like it should fit but is in fact 25mm shorter then the longer one.

The Gates numbers are 7PK1600 and 7PK1575; the long number is the length in mm.

A/C or no A/C doesn't affect this belt as that is seperately driven.

Well after a lot of wedgeing, prising, and lifting between Dad and myself we got the belt on.

Its really not a job one can do on your own I feel, the tip is to leave the tensioner pulley last as it is easier to slide on as it has no lip to pull the belt over.
