L322 2011 L322 Xenon headlights not moving

Fairly new to my L322 (2011 Vogue). I believe it has adaptive headlights, but not 100% sure. What I do observe is that there is no "dance" when powered up, the lenses appear to remain fixed. No errors logged. Is this normal behaviour, aren't they supposed to self-level?

Firstly welcome

Easiest way is to park in front of a wall/garage door then you will see it easier. I have never tried to actually look at the light for movement.

When I do it with our 2011 you can see the headlight go through a range of movement against the wall on start up.

No movement at all, looks like no AFS for my car. That's probably good if it means less to go wrong!

Does the standard Xenon make any vertical adjustment, or is it all catered for my the suspension level?

The suspension should keep the car level so headlamp aim correct, even when loaded.

what lights do you have? I've HID, which don't dance, but as per other post, car should always be level?

We have the expensive 1s too

But isnt HID the same thing as Xenon anyway?
Maybe we notice it cos the car does it on start up, not when you turn on the lights. As we have ours set as DLR they come on when ignition/start.

Neither of my facelift Vogues have had this feature but the 2008 Vogue SE did. The SE would adjust the lights up and down, then go slightly cross-eyed, it was quite cool I guess. Never noticed the difference in normal driving though.

HID = High Intensity Discharge = Xenon

OK, weirdly when driving toward a wall to park, I could see clearly that the beam moved left/right with my steering input (until I was quite slow)... so it appears she *does* have the adaptive headlamps. I checked the label and this confirms AFS:

... on which basis I'm confused as to why there's no dance/adjustment.

i drove a normal car once, with xenons.. it was awful - as the car went over bumps in the road, you could see the levelling try to keep up and fail, which meant you saw the beam cutoff dance and flicker

It could just be the "bending lights" (bottom outside of the headlight).

It's awful for oncoming traffic as well, you think you're being flashed for some reason, I don't like em that and,80 quid a pop for bulbs.
