Alright, I'll have a think about it and see if there is going to be a slot when I could come down before Christmas. Is there a charge to get over the bridge onto the Island? Would you fancy helping me fit it for £100 to £150 or so? I'm sure I'd manage at home with my Dad though

Hehe that would make Anglesey the only county in the uk you had to pay to get in to:D No there's no charge. You'll have to make your mind up pretty sharpish it'll be going on ebay probably at the weekend when I get a chance to take a photo of it. As for the fitting I just haven't got time sorry.

It'd take a lot longer than that! At least 4 hours to get there, make it 4.5 in the landy, then the same back! It'd also take a while to get around on the island

Google maps dont have " by Landrover " option just car , so your prob right LOL . Might be cheaper + faster hiring a small van for the day ??? .

Alright, well realistically theres not a chance in hell I can get down before Christmas so whack it on ebay and see how it does! :D I'm sure there'll be a good'un sat locally somewhere

No probs pos. Just for the record Leeds is about 2 and a half hours from here, motorway or dual carriageway all the way.

Could you PM me your postcode so I can make a route plan? If it is only 2.5 to 3 hours or so I'll see if I can come down because it'd be a half a day jobby rather than a full day and certainly a lot more affordable fuel wise!

3 hrs is probably closer. have driven that route a few times as well as Blaenau Ffestiniog to Hull more times than I care to remember. Fastest journey time ever was 2hr 47min BL Fest to Hull Approx 220 miles. In a 84 Golf GTi 8V.

Well I've got a 1990 mk2 Golf 1.6 which has had me between Leeds and Ipswich in 2 hours 50 minutes once! Bit naughty  Not very good for lugging engines around mind!

ere pos if your comin up to see hughsey ill help you fit the engine.

jus to add to your thoughts. Your current NA egg sauce wont be big enough dia for the TDi, you will need to make or get a new one. Go for a 300, cos the downpipe comes outta the turbo straight down, so zorsts are **** easy to make line up. 300's all the way, much less hassle i rekons.

I've kept on top of all your conversion threads recently. They're very interesting and the pictures are brilliant.
Would you mind if I came and had a look and point session at some point just to get a feel for it? You're only down the road :D (Don't feel like you have to say yes by any means!) I'm not into botching anything myself and I'd want to do everything properly. Silicone hoses might have to go a miss though, money doesn't grow on trees like it does in Wetherby! :p

Yep no probs if you want to come and take a look at what is involved. I need to update my progress thread really but have had a long day at work so will try do that tomorrow for you. The 200TDi is now in the 90 (took a while to mate gearbox and engine last night but that's another story!) and very good it looks in there too :) In theory I just need to reconnect everything back up now and it's finished, yeah right...

BTW there's no money left in Wetherby, it's all been spent on broken Landy's!

Alright, I've got your topic bookmarked so I'll check it out whenever you update it. What problems did you have mating the engine to the gearbox? Was it a matter of seating the engine at the right angle for the studs to go in straight or more a matter of lining the shaft up splines up so that everything was level and all the studs lined up?

Oww bumflaps, I've just fabricated (in a sense) myself a very nice side exit exhaust! Surely I could just find a joint that'd reduce the pipe diametre?
Also with a 300, I thought there was more to do in terms of engine mounts etc? I don't have a power steering box so I'd be looking to avoid fitting the power steering pump too. Where abouts are you again Boydy Bangor is that where you go to uni?

yeah i live in bangor, its a small town.

I dont have power steering either. All i did was buy a shorter belt from halfords that dnt go round the PAS pulley. Job done.

You could reduce the pipe size, but i personally wouldn't like to run a turbo with a restriced gas flow, itll throttle it and could potentially make it get VERY hot. what is the ID of your new custom egsauce?

The engine mounts aren't a problem, on the 300 they are simply a flat shelf like creation - piece of **** to either cut off your disco or fabricate, i had to make me a new one after the old one broke. **** easy, one of mine is in fac now bolted onto the chassis instead of welded to make it easier!
