Ello all,
Me defender wagon is well due a cambelt change and am gana try give it a go meself, have read up on fredss about it and the old Haynes manual so have a rough idea. Anybody in Hants fancy giving us a hand for some beer tokens? Don't think quite confident to do it all on me own!
Don't want to take it to the garage if I can manage it with some elp!
Cheers ;)

I managed to do mine and i'm 17 :p . Just watch the video as shown above, thats what I did, take your time and make sure you check timing marks at all stages. I live in Hampshire and would love to help, but with A-levels and sporting commitments, I don't even have time to work on my own fender :(

That's what I've been watching nd a few others it looks simple enough it just getting everything off and getting to the belt that takes the time etc..
(I don't have a lot of free time) ;)

Might be worth getting someone else to do it then, just in case you have probs with the water pump cover like i did.

Yeh I know what ya mean!!
Waiting to get a quote back from my local landy specialists thinking it be around £300odd..

Cheers for the message matey, have got it booked into the garage now as I can't afford to snap a bolt off or make a slip up as it's my daily driver.

On another note,
Anyone fancy giving me a hand putting a new cyclinder head on lol?
I've taken it off before to change the gasket so I know what am doing and nothing will shear off touch wood, it all seems to work better with another pair of hands lol ;) ?
Cheers all!

I assume you are talking about the same vehicle? Only reason I ask is that you can still have issues with manifold studs (not to the same degree as the pump bolts admittedly). Also assume the head has been skimmed etc or are you actually talking 'new' new? Give me a rough date and I will see what I can do.

Yup the same one, all the studs etc are all fine and will undo a treat, coppergreased and only done few months ago so it's all good to come off.

Baught a 2nd hand tested and re surfaced head so just simple job wip old one off clean the block and put new gasket and head on.

Yeh ok I'm thinking 1st weekend in April either Saturday or Sunday not sure yet.
It always seem easyer with two people doing it if ya get me lol.
If you can't it's not the end of world fella :)

Bump. Planning changing cyclinder head Thursday or Friday daytime this comming week, I can do most of it all me meself, may just need a hand doing the head bolts up and setting the tappets again if anyone is about ;)
If not sure will get it done one way or the other lol
