Hi There everyone just bought my 1st defender which I love !, BUT it has had a hard farm life with little servicing !.The first problem I need to cure is a nasty clunk when accelerating or de-accelerating .To me it sounds like a worn prop shaft or coupling taking up the "slop" ,or worn engine mount etc,
. Any advice would be appreciated guys .I have a genuine land rover maintenance manual which will take years to read !...thanks huggyboy

Welcome, best to put your woes in the Defender section, better response there.
Could be ujs, diffs, drive flange, a frame ball joint etc, all quite cheap to fix.
Could also be gearbox spline wear, not cheap to fix- mines got that problem and has had for 6 yrs, clutch/power sympathey helps.
I will fix it sometime...

Best get a pry bar and a torch and slide underneath for a look about! Worn prop or bushes will be easy to spot. And welcome!
