Hi, new member Dave here, have had an srs light on for ever tried everything but have no luck. Still have code ox31 on screen. I have a 2001autobiography 4.6 p38 Range Rover. If anyone can give me a clue on this code I would be grateful. Many thanks Dave

What's the code being read with? OBD won't touch it. Hawkeye?

I'm sure someone knowledgeable will be along shortly but in the meantime have you got a copy of RAVE to refer to?

Do all the bulbs in the instrument cluster work as if one blows for the abs it puts srs one on i believe.

Correct. There are two SRS lamps if one fails the other one is permanently on.

Had a guy from local garage brought his computer with him. The one he uses in the workshop. Sorry don't know the name of it .

His diagnostics may or may not give you a sensible response.

Have a small machine and that is also bringing up the same code. Phoned Range Rover garage they didn't know that code. Have tried seat belts, rotary coupling, , ecu . All joints have been soldered under seats etc. Am stuck can't mot it as it is a failure for srs.have rebuilt this car it owes me more money than it's worth. But see no alternative than to take it to a tange rover garage . I expect it will cost a fortune .

Might be sensible to check the bulbs in the dash first.

Where are you ? "South" is not much help. Somebody might be nearby with Nanocom to read the fault properly.

If everything else is good, then check the bulbs as already suggested.
(it's only 12 screws !! 4 on lower cover, 4 in cluster surround, and 4 for the instrument pack)

Yes checked bulbs took them out and put them on battery. Working ok .

Your car will have the wabco d ecu, they have been known to play about a bit unlike the the b & c set ups
p38 do not work with most diag units, what is the one you used.

Edit forget the brake ecu bit i got mixed up.

play with this until you get P38 diagnostics locally !!

Live in the Basingstoke area. Yes I have taken the bulbs out and checked them .

I would be very surprised if your reader will actually read a p38 as they are not really odb compliant, it really need proper dedicated diag

Thank you so much for taking the time to get back to me. Have a son who is a fitter, a friend from the local garage all have tried with no success. If I take it to Range Rover garage will have to get them to fix the problem as will have to book it with them for an mot or I will not be able to drive it on the road without the mot.
Have worked on this car for two years engine everthing in working order now and I am stuck with a srs light. Have joined this foram hoping someone may have ideas. Thanks again. I'm used to classic cars think I should have stuck to them.

I'm probably heading past Basing in few weeks time. If you can wait, I could hook up Nanocom on my way to Dorset.

Alternatively, you could try posting a request in https://www.landyzone.co.uk/forum/landyzone-international-rescue.75/ in case somebody else is passing by.

That's only supposed to be for emergencies to get you out of danger. However, the map shows members with diagnostics. Just message the nearest member.
