Mine was so seized in place I had to use a trolley jack pushing a crobar to dislodge the a frame from the axle.
Bolts on the arm to the A frame would not come undone even with heat + 1500nm buzz gun. So grinder. Get new bolts
The 3 into the chassis all sheared. New bolts.

Thats fairly decent for an auto! Often seem them in the mid to high teens.
My 110 around town returns abour 20 - 24mpg, heavily tuned but mway driving 28 - 32

Same. Not really a thing in the UK.
Older land rovers are very easy to work on and fairly difficult to get things wrong in terms of fitting suspension. End of the day the front end is only 3 bolts (think) to change a front damper and spring on a D2.

You can get Defender AC Condensors off ebay for £120 + a 15" fan for how ever much you want to spend, I went for Spal for £80.
Why do you want to avoid the the AC grill? Can often be had for £50 look much better imo!
You can tap stainless use tapping/cutting oil. Go slow.

The tread pattern. Very loud, very noisy, bad in the wet, bad on tarmac. Just generally awful on the road.
If you want mixed use the any all terrain or something like Toyo MTs.
