As everyone is now getting into LED's, thought I would share the mod I have just carried out on the rear number plate lights (as I do like lights and LED's
).
Noticed one wasn't working and the other was pretty dim when checking her over at the weekend for the forthcoming MOT, so decided to change the setup.
First of all I purchased a pair of SMD led clusters - mainly used for interior dome lights from the well know auction site for less than £3.00
Here is link of the ones I bought, as no doubt someone will ask
SMD LED Panel
Then I took out the original lights, which pretty much fell apart in my hands!
I then dremmelled off the plastic middle strip that holds the bulb connectors in place to get a nice flat lense.
I then set about mounting the LEDs by using a hot glue gun...
flipped over to see the LED's through the lense...
Testing to make sure everything works...
then fitted them in place - just put spade connectors onto the wire so they fit into the original fixings
and then just been out for some night shots to make sure they are bright enough, which I think they pass that test
So reckon it took me about an hour to do the whole conversion
