Hi All

New to forum.

After having problems getting into My D2 V8 with the fob I followed EKA instructions from here and handbook that I had ( not original to vehicle) as well as other places and had no luck.

My hand book did not mention and no post that I have seen here seems to mention that: YOU MUST WAIT 5 MINUTES after the final key turn before you enter the vehicle. during the 5 minutes the red light will flash intermittently and then flash at 8 times a second when it is time to enter. On entry YOU MUST TURN KEY TO POSITION 2 within 30 seconds.

If I have repeated something posted before I apologise.

Anyway I am now in. Fob still doesn't work but at least I am on the move.

Sounds like same problem I had with both fobs. Now got new BCU and fobs working ok.

There are three configurations for emergency key access:
l EKA not active (no immobiliser fitted).
l EKA active.
l EKA with super locking on receiving good passive remobilisation exciter coil signal.

The code is recorded on the security information card and is entered as follows:
1 Using the key, turn the driver's door lock to the UNLOCK position and hold in this position for at least 5 seconds.
An audible warning is then emitted to indicate that the body control unit is ready to accept the code. Return the key to the centre position. It is now possible to use the key to enter the separate numerical values of the four digits that make up the EKA code.
2 Enter the first digit of the code. If the first digit is 4, turn the key to the UNLOCK position 4 times. Ensure the key is fully returned to the centre position after each turn of the key.
3 Enter the second digit of the code. If the second digit is 3, turn the key to the LOCK position 3 times. Ensure the key is fully returned to the centre position after each turn of the key.
4 Enter the third digit of the code. If the third digit is 2, turn the key to the UNLOCK position twice. Ensure the key is fully returned to the centre position after each turn of the key.
5 Enter the fourth digit of the code. If the fourth digit is 1, turn the key to the LOCK position once. Ensure the key is fully returned to the centre position after each turn of the key.
6 Finally, turn the key to the UNLOCK position and back to the centre position, a double bleep will indicate that the code has been entered correctly. A single bleep indicates that the code has been entered incorrectly.
Then, before opening the door, wait 5 minutes for the alarm and immobiliser to be de-activated. During the 5 minute wait for the alarm and immobiliser to be de-activated, the alarm indicator LED in the instrument pack continues to flash (one flash every 2 seconds). DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR OR ATTEMPT TO ENTER THE CAR until the full delay period has elapsed.
When the 5 minute wait has elapsed, the alarm indicator LED stops flashing. Immediately open the door, insert the key in the ignition switch and turn the switch to position II. If the ignition switch is not turned to position II within 30 seconds of the end of the 5 minute wait, the engine is automatically immobilised again.

The EKA code will not be recognised if there is an interval of 10 seconds or more between key turns or if the key is held turned for 5 seconds or more during the procedure.
In some system configurations a successful EKA code entry is indicated by the audible warning device pulsing twice for a period of 50 ms on, 200 ms off. The theft deterrent LED is switched on for 1 second, all doors unlock, the alarm disarms and the vehicle is remobilised allowing the engine to start.
If an incorrect code is entered, an audible warning is emitted and the procedure must be repeated. Up to a maximum of 10 attempts to enter the code is possible. After 10 attempts, the BCU will not allow any further codes to be entered for a period of 10 minutes.


F**k 'em all you have to be pretty handy ...............they did it on purpose .... to be unable to activate it drunk :mad:

using this method how would you enter the value for 0?

my four diget code has a 0 in it.

Hi simon, you ignore the 0, for example if it is 050514 you input 5 5 14.
Nearly know mine by heart now. who invents this stuff,sadism is alive and well,

But 050514 isnt a "four digit" code is it:confused: ....thats a bit strange with this EKA code cos they say its a "four digit" code but actually is a four NUMBER code(i.e mine has 5 digit, one of them is 12 which is not a digit it's a number.....or my english is making tricks on me again?:eek:)........if the 0 comes after 1 then u better consider it a 10.

I just used 5 5 14 as an example.it is a four number sequence,
so if its 03 04 14 10, you turn the key 3 times unlock, 4 times lock, 14 times unlock and 10 times lock. then to the unlock position and hopefuly hear 2 beeps, one beep means that the code has not been accepted,if accepted you need to wait 5 minutes before opening the car while the alarm disarms, the dash light will flash very fast and the hazards may flash,you have 30 seconds to turn on the ignition and engine after this or the immobiliser comes on again.
 
2 days ago my 2000 td5 suffered same problem, key fob would not work, key got me into the car, and alarm went nuts.
Spoke to local LR dealer who ran through the reprograming of the key, which I attempted several times to no avail.
A friend of mine who runs a multifranchise workshop has had it in (via tow truck), where they have experienced it working one min, and not the next and have diagnosed the Ignition control unit (tells me it's near passenger foot well) as being faulty due to water coming in from sunroof, finding its way down and buggering the ignition.

Reading the threads here, can I assume this is the BCU I need to change? any suggestions on where to get one?

U better find somebody with a dedicated tester to scan it first.....anyway even if u replace the BCU u'll need this kind of tester to reconfigure it....though i'ts quite uncommon the BCU to fail, and if it fails due to water ingress or something it doesnt mess up merely the ignition i'm sure.

Did u try to introduce the EKA code?

I never had any mention of the eka code in paperwork, do you have to get it from a landrover stealer? Anybody any idea how much?

Hi, no needs to go to dealer.....somebody with nanocom or hawkeye can read it for u...then remember it or save it in your phone coz it's good to have it at hand.

I faxed my V5 to my local Dealer and they gave me the the EKA, radio and key codes over the phone.

Letters are A= 10, B=11,C=12 etc.

Well I tried this a few times now as Disco is sat on drive immobilised. It happened a week ago outside a Hospital and I put it down to interference as after lockin and unlocking lots of times and pressing the fob...it eventually opened and disarmed.

Mrs tried to go out today (been fine all week) and again, fob stopped working and no matter how many times i lock/unlock/press the sucker wont disarm!

So went to Dealers, got code, followed the above and.....nothing. I dont get a beep to say the codes wrong or 2 beeps to say its right either. The drivers door look is a little sloppy so I was wondering if that may be why it wont work. (Also actuator is broken, used to lock with fob but only unlock with key)

Anyhooo as it is, its stuck on the drive and doesnt look like its going anywhere anytime soon.
 
Something tells me that you would need the actuator working to send the correct signals through the system, i may be wrong but as its not working it does seem logical.

Done some searching on google and someone suggested something really random.

Get in the car, press the door lock/unlock button 3 times....so i got in pressed it lots of times with the key in the ignition, pressed the fob a few times and the immobiliser went off.....random but worked!
 
hi guys and girls would one of you educated people enlighten me re entering the EKA code ? when going from unlock to lock is that movement counted as one of the digits or does one go from unlock to lock and then enter the digits
