Looks like an interesting job. Well done on getting the engine and gearbox out all in one big piece.
How rusty is that chassis? It looks to me like it has a lot of its original factory paint on it.
main problem with a big workshop... it gets filled up with ****.
and the floor is crap makes life serious hard work trying to
move anything heavy on small castors..
A power float is your friendmines like a skating rink. Too much floating and wouldnt take the floor paint.
Great to see a Td5 rebuild for a change (as opposed to 200/300Tdi) and everyone likes to see a nice new galvanised chassis being built up.
Have you thought about getting a galvanised bulkhead and cappings too? They always rust even if well painted and I always thought if I was putting in all the effort to do a rebuild I would do the whole lot.
Are you planning on priming and painting the chassis before putting it all together? I prefer a black chassis - just a personal preference - and as it is more subtle looking than a galvanised-finished one I often think it might help decrease danger of theft etc.
In any case, it's early days but looks great so far.
PS Which Td5 engine have you got: the earlier or the later one?
